Privacy policy
Written for neighbours, not lawyers. Here's everything we collect, why, and what we never do with it.
1. Overview
2 GREAT 4 HATE (“we”, “our”, “the organisation”) is a 501(c)(3) public charity (EIN 46-5354977) operating in Pocatello, Idaho. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit our website, contact us, volunteer, or take part in our activities.
Our guiding rule is simple: we collect as little as we need, keep it as short as we can, and never sell or rent it — ever.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what you choose to give us:
- Contact details — name and email address when you use a form on this site (volunteer sign-up, RSVP, contact, newsletter).
- Your interests — the options you pick on our forms (volunteering, hosting, partnership, etc.), used only to match you with the right volunteer.
- Optional details — anything you add to a message or tell us by email.
- Basic technical data — see “Cookies & analytics” below. We do not run advertising trackers.
We do not collect payment details — we never process donations directly on this website.
3. How we use it
- To respond to your messages and questions.
- To send you event reminders and (only if you ask) our occasional newsletter.
- To match volunteers and partners with the right committees.
- To meet our legal and reporting obligations.
We use personal information only for the purpose it was given. We don't build profiles, and we don't use your data for anything unrelated.
4. Sharing & disclosure
We never sell or rent your information. We share it only:
- With your consent — e.g., connecting you with a partner organisation you've asked to meet.
- With volunteers on a need-to-know basis — e.g., a facilitator seeing an RSVP list for their gathering.
- When required by law — e.g., a valid court order.
Reports made under our non-discrimination policy are kept confidential and are never shared without the reporter's consent, except where required by law.
5. Cookies & analytics
This website is static and privacy-light. It uses no advertising cookies and no third-party trackers. If we later add analytics, we will use a privacy-respecting service and update this page before enabling it.
Your web server may keep routine access logs (IP address, pages requested, timestamps) for security and reliability. These logs are retained briefly and used only for those purposes.
6. Children's privacy
Children are at the centre of our vision, and we take their privacy seriously. Our website does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in line with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Events involving children are always held with parents or guardians present, and family contact details given to us are used only for event logistics.
If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Your rights & choices
You can, at any time:
- Ask what we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete it.
- Unsubscribe from any email list — every newsletter has an unsubscribe line, or just write to us.
Email [email protected] with the subject line “Privacy request” and we'll respond within 5 business days.
8. Retention & security
We keep information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected (typically up to 2 years after your last contact, or as required by law for records like donation acknowledgements). When it's no longer needed, we delete it.
Access to personal data is limited to the volunteers who need it, and our records are kept on password-protected, access-controlled systems.
9. Third-party links
Our site links to external services — including the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search and Facebook. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; check their policies if you visit them.
10. Changes & contact
We may update this policy as our activities evolve. Significant changes are announced on this page, and the date above updates automatically.
Email [email protected] — we answer within 5 business days.
