Accessibility statement

1. Our commitment

We're committed to making our website usable by everyone — including people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, screen magnification or who prefer reduced motion. Accessibility is a continuous process, not a checkbox: we review and improve the site as part of regular maintenance.

2. Standards we follow

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the W3C. Where we can't fully meet a criterion yet, we document it honestly under “Known limitations” below rather than pretending.

3. What we've built

Features on this site, designed in from the start:

• Skip link — the first thing on every page lets keyboard users jump straight to the main content.
• Keyboard navigation — every control is reachable and operable with the keyboard, with a visible focus outline on every page.
• Screen-reader structure — semantic landmarks, labelled navigation, headings in order, and descriptive alt text for images.
• Reduced motion — if you've asked your system for less motion, animations and transitions are turned off.
• Colour contrast — text and interface colours are chosen to meet AA contrast ratios; colour is never the only signal (we add icons and labels alongside).
• Resizable text — layouts adapt if you zoom up to 200%, and on narrow phone screens.
• ARIA-documented interactivity — menus, dialogs and status messages (like form confirmations) are announced to assistive technology.

4. Using this site

• Keyboard: press Tab to move between links and controls, Enter to activate, Esc to close menus and dialogs.
• Zoom: the site is designed to work up to 200% magnification without horizontal scrolling.
• Reduced motion: enable “reduce motion” in your operating system settings and the site will respect it automatically.
• Screen readers: the site is built with standard HTML landmarks; most screen readers will announce page structure correctly.

5. Known limitations

• External services — links to Facebook and the IRS website are outside our control; those platforms have their own accessibility statements.
• Legacy content — older documents shared for download may not be fully accessible. Request an accessible alternative and we'll provide one within 5 business days.
• Automated vs. human testing — we test with automated tools and manual review; some edge cases may still surface. That's what the reporting channel below is for.

If you find something that's hard to use — or that simply doesn't work for you — please tell us. You can report it anonymously if you prefer.
