Pocatello is too great for hate.
We are a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) coalition of neighbours, faith communities, educators and local leaders — working through conversation, education and partnership to make our city safe and welcoming for every person, especially our children.

Understanding, unity & respect — built together
Every community gets to choose: solidarity over division, compassion over hate, understanding over prejudice. That choice is the work we do, every single day.
A strong community isn't one without difference — it's one where people know how to live with difference, respectfully.

Five commitments, one community
Our work rests on five pillars that shape every conversation, partnership and action we take.
Promote equity
Every person deserves a voice, a seat at the table and a fair chance — without barriers of prejudice or discrimination.
Oppose hate & prejudice
We don't stay silent when someone is insulted, excluded or treated unfairly. We stand together and defend each other's dignity.
Educate the community
We raise awareness about prejudice, the value of diversity and how to respond when hate appears — because prevention starts with understanding.
Build unity
We work across political, cultural and faith differences. Unity doesn't mean agreeing — it means disagreeing with respect and still solving problems together.
Take responsibility
Each of us shares responsibility for a safe, respectful community — through our words, our actions and the conversations we choose to have.
Why “Too Great for Hate”?
The name is a promise
2 GREAT 4 HATE is a playful spelling of “Too Great for Hate” — the belief that our community is bigger, kinder and stronger than any message of hate.
It's also a reminder that our differences — in background, belief and perspective — should never become a reason for prejudice, division or conflict.
We don't limit our message to any one group. We work for the dignity of every person in Pocatello, no matter their origin, faith, politics or circumstances.
Why the sunrise? The two figures in our logo stand for people of every background, arms raised in welcome. The sun stands for hope, the mountains for home — blue for trust, red for courage, gold for hope, green for growth, ink for resolve.

We change attitudes through conversation — not by reacting only after harm is done.
Educate before it starts
Awareness work that keeps prejudice from taking root — through schools, congregations and everyday conversation about what respect looks like.
Build trust across lines
Gatherings that bring people of different faiths, cultures and viewpoints together — to listen first, and understand before being understood.
Stand up together
When someone is targeted, we show up: public solidarity, practical support and a clear message that hate has no home here.
